Engineering and architecture

A blog

This part of the website is formatted more like a blog so feel free to scroll
down and I hope you find it interesting!

Studying engineering at university I felt a certain lack of creative outlet, at
the time, my view of engineers were dull office workers. It wasn’t until I
snatched a copy of “An Engineer Imagines” by structural engineer Peter
Rice that it began to fall into place what I loved about engineering.

I sought out environments where engineers and architects collaborate
closely on projects at Foster + Partners, and I am now on a mission to
understand how a different style of university teaching in Japan leads to
close collaboration on a more cultural level.

I recognise the importance and want to understand how mutual
understanding between engineers and architects leads to design
sustainable and efficient structures with humans and the environment at
the core of the design.
